Draft complete for Light Keeper #2 - Beta Readers wanted

Thirteen years after I first started working on it, I finished the first full draft of the sequel to Light Keeper Chronicle. That was in April and since then I’ve been working on tightening up the writing I do have in that book to make it readable. So, four days ago, I now have a readable second draft of the novel!

On the chance you’re unfamiliar, the first Light Keeper Chronicle book followed four kids who are taken to a magical world under dubious circumstances and told that they are the prophesied heroes, known as Element Keepers, of Garibain. The four chosen ones — Lenzey, Ellean, Walter, and Zack — are instructed to fulfill a prophecy, but are not allowed to know what that prophecy says. Over the course of their adventures, they must figure out the nature of the new world they find themselves in and who they can trust.

Now, in this sequel, Lenzey, Walter, Ellean, and Zack are visited by a wounded ally from Garibain who comes to them for help, claiming that she was attacked by powerful enemies: the as-yet-unknown remaining three Element Keepers. A different Warlock has apparently found the remaining Element Keepers and brought them to Garibain. On top of that, Zandar, the Warlock who brought the original four Element Keepers to Garibain, has gone missing. Now, Lenzey and her friends return to Garibain in hopes of saving the three Element Keepers and discovering what became of Zandar.

Even though there’s a finished and (mostly) readable draft now, it’ll probably be at least a year before I can hope to get something to print for publishing. However, I am looking for people to give feed back on this current draft.

Ideally, I get some people to read through this draft before October, so I can then spend October and November going through the book and implementing some changes based on feedback.

If you’re interested in being a beta reader for the book, please fill out this Google form: https://forms.gle/UkTZb63Nqdig7u7A6

Even if you haven’t read the first book, you can still apply! I’ll be looking to get 5-10 applicants to give feedback on the book. If you fill out the form before August 13, I’m hoping to send out PDFs of this first draft to people who are selected a day or two after that deadline.

Then I’m hoping have a new set of questions out in the last week of September to be filled out by October 3. Those September forms will ask questions about what you think and feel about the book.

I just moved so everything’s moving a little bit slower, but if you’re interested, just fill out the form. Or, if you know someone else who might be interested, feel free to pass it along to them.

In any case, I’ll hopefully have a published book in a year or so for anyone who’s interested to read!
