What is Light Keeper Chronicle?
At the moment, I am closing in on finishing the first full draft of the second Light Keeper Chronicle book. Even though the first book in the series was my first book ever, I’ve been so focused on talking about The Wilderlands, that I wanted to take some time to talk about the series.

The problem with A.I. generated “art”
Last year, an A.I. generated landed at the top of the Billboard country music digital sales charts, showing that—on balance, “art” that is generated by a computer can gain mainstream success.
Is it worth it to self-publish a book in 2026?
I think people talk about publishing a book in the same way they say “I should start a band” or “I could do a podcast.” It’s something that seems very achievable and cool to have done—and it is! But achievable doesn’t mean easy.
While I do believe that everyone has a book or a story in them of some sort, that doesn’t mean that it’s worth it for every individual person to spend the time bringing that book to market.
My favorite books, movies, and more from 2025!
I’m going to be somewhat self indulgent this week. I’m sharing a list of most of the new medial I finished in 2025 and recommending my favorites.
Three things to expect from me in 2026

Ooops, I wrote a whole essay about “Wicked: For Good”
I know I said I was going to take December off—but I said that before I saw Wicked: For Good. Now, I gotta talk about it.
Reviewing my November Novel writing progress, 2025
I spent a good portion of the month trying to finish up the first draft of the sequel to Light Keeper Chronicle: The Unspoken Prophecy. Here’s how it went.
One year—and $4,367— later, “The Wilderlands”
One year after “The Wilderlands,” I want to look at the book I wrote a year ago, reflecting on having gotten it out and how I am feeling about it 365 days after the fact.

Do you want to write a book in just 30 days?
On paper, it’s a very appealing and doable notion—right up until it comes time to put things on paper. Let’s break down exactly what it entails.
7 Alternatives to NaNoWriMo
Following the end of NaNoWriMo, I wanted to mention a few of the alternative organizations/events I’ve heard of with writing events next month. Bare in mind I haven’t used most of these and don’t necessarily endorse them. These are just names that have come up when I looked into what’s happening outside of NaNoWriMo this year, and a little bit about them.
Art I’m Enjoying: “Once Was Willem” by M.R. Carey
For those who are relatively unfamiliar with M.R. Carey (as I was) he is likely most known for his novel, The Girl with All the Gifts which released in 2013 and got a 2016 film adaptation. He’s a British author who also publishes comics and other novels under the name Mike Carey.

I ran a Goodreads giveaway & a Storygraph giveaway — They didn’t go the way I hoped
I ran two giveaways for my epic fantasy novel The Wilderlands which published in fall of 2024 and had an audiobook released this past summer.
I did this in hopes of getting my book in the hands of some more readers and, hopefully, generating a little bit more word of mouth interest in the book.
Here’s how that went.
Why do I love science fiction & fantasy?
I recently saw two movies and two T.V. shows that have all made me want to talk about why I love genre fiction and why I tend to be attracted to it more than realistic fiction, biographic writing, non-fiction, and most other genres.

Art I’m Enjoying: Josh Johnson stand-up comedian
Something to know about me is that, in the back half of my high school career, I ended up on a stand-up comedy kick. So much so that I actually won the talent show my senior year with a stand-up act.
Josh Johnson represents the most interested I’ve been in stand-up since then.
